Using the monthly temperature and pan evaporation record from 14 meteorological stations in the J inghe River basin from1957 to 2002, the basic spatial distribution and temporal trend of temperature and pan evaporation were analyzed with the methods of climate tendency ratio andMann - Kendall statistic test. The results show that the temperature in the studied area increases and accordsbasically with that all over the country in the past 45 years, and the temperature tendency ratio is 0. 29 ℃/10 a. The temperature in2crease ismost significant in winter, then in autumn, and the temperature increases gradually from the northwest to the southeast part of the basin and obvious especially in north part of the area. In contrast, the pan evaporation decreases in the temporal dimension and the tendency ratio is - 39. 3 mm /10 a. The spatial distribution of long - term trend shows a decrease tendency in the south and the northpart of the basin, but it isn’t obvious in themiddle part. The evaporation change in the basin needs to take some other factors into con2sideration and the main cause for the change of evaporation will be further investigated in the further study.
